Cat Cafe: Fostering Kittens 101 • Let’s Save the Kittens! (FLEX Class)
What's included
Class Experience
Welcome to the Cat Cafe, a place where all feline friends are welcome! In this 4 week FLEX course, learners will understand what it means to foster kittens, learn about basic kitten care, and design their own foster room! Each week, learners will complete activities focusing on kitten needs and basic kitten care using Nearpod. This creates an interactive presentation, so that learners can work on collaborate boards, go on virtual field trips, play memory games, take quizzes, and so much more! These functions allow for learners to interact in engaging discussions with one another throughout the week. Each week, the Nearpod link will be posted in the Outschool classroom. At the end of week four, there will be an opportunity for your learner to create their own foster room! Learners will get to share their foster room with the rest of the class and discuss what they enjoyed learning most. I can't wait to "see" you in class soon! ⭐️ ON MATERNITY LEAVE - ACCEPTING NEW STUDENTS IN THE SPRING SEMESTER ⭐️
Hi there, my name is Chelsea! You will quickly see that my classes provide a positive learning environment, celebrate individuality, and encourage students to develop a love for learning at an early age. I truly enjoy meeting my students from around the world!
A little bit about me: I live in Ohio, USA with my husband, two children, and three cats. I specialize in General and Special Education and have ten years of professional experience teaching children from birth to age thirteen. I also hold a 120 hour TESOL certificate and have over two years of teaching English as a Second Language.
One of my biggest passions is animals, especially cats! I offer a variety of "cat cafe" style classes, which include show and tell, book clubs, fostering cats and kittens, and social classes. I also offer curriculum based and "free talk" style classes for my ESL learners to help them practice and grow within the English language.
I can’t wait to see you in my classroom!
-Ms. Chelsea❤️
Class Policies:
1. Classes will begin at the scheduled time, even if all learners are not in the classroom (unless there appears to be a technical issue). I will not contact absent learners during class time so that my attention is on the learners who are present.
2. I will always finish class as close to the scheduled amount of time as possible. Depending on low enrollment numbers or extended discussion for very active speakers, the class may run a few minutes short or long.
3. If your learner has missed a class, I will offer a transfer to another section (if applicable) ONLY if I receive a message within 24 hours of the original class start time. I will then transfer the learner to the new section within 24 hours of the new class start time.
4. My group classes have a minimum class enrollment of 2 learners. If the minimum number is not reached, I will transfer or withdraw the learner, depending on what the parent would like to do.
5. My private tutoring learners are allowed 1 cancellation with a refund, as long as prior notice is given 24 hours before the class time. After the first cancelation and refund are used, the class will no longer be refunded for last minute absences. *For long-term learners, this policy will restart every quarter (Jan-Mar, Apr-June, July-Sep, Oct-Dec)*
6. Per Outschool policy, If no learners are in the classroom, I will wait 10 minutes before ending the class and exiting the meeting.
Classroom Expectations:
1. Learners will NOT be muted in the classroom, unless there is excessive and distracting background noise. I will always go over the rules of the classroom (raising your hand to speak, listening to the speaker, etc) in the beginning of class. If there is a learner talking over the teacher, I will kindly ask them to raise their hand. If after three reminders they continue to talk over the teacher, then they will be muted until they raise their hand.
2. Learners are expected to introduce themselves at the beginning of class. Learners will have the opportunity to share about themselves such as their favorite color, if they have any pets, or how old they are.
3. All learners are expected to be focused as much as possible for their current age. For younger learners, they are welcome to bring a toy or stuffed animal if that helps them remain in class. Older learners are asked to not have their phones or other electronic devices with them during class so they can focus on learning.
4. Parents and siblings are welcome to watch the class, but if siblings are going to participate, each sibling must be enrolled in the lesson individually. Siblings cannot attend and participate in class with only one enrollment to the lesson.
5. If a learner cannot behave appropriately, they will be given three warnings before being placed in the waiting room. The learner will be placed in the waiting room for a few minutes and then re-admitted to class when the teacher feels they are ready to rejoin. If inappropriate behaviors are extreme, the parent will be contacted by the teacher and the Outschool team will be notified as well.
