Students will be taught different variations of cartwheels, which are laid out below in the weekly lesson plan. A solid basic cartwheel is strongly recommended. We will begin the class by warming up our muscles and stretching to prevent strain or injury. I will demonstrate different cartwheel variations, break down the steps to doing, and then encourage the students to try them. I will watch each student do their cartwheels and offer personalized feedback. Week One: Cartwheel on dominant side, cartwheel from knees, cartwheel to handstand stepdown Week Two: All of the above, plus cartwheel from non-dominant side and switch-leg cartwheel Week Three: All of the above plus elbow cartwheel and cartwheel to arabesque Week Four: Everything covered in weeks one-three, while introducing the one-armed cartwheel at the end
Learning Goals
Students will improve their cartwheel technique, to include pointed toes, straight legs, and balance. Students will learn a new way to do a cartwheel and choose their favorite cartwheel variation.

Teacher expertise and credentials
To take this class, a student MUST have a soft surface to practice on- preferably a yoga or tumbling mat, but carpet is all right as well. Absolutely no hard floors. The student must have an open space of at least 8' by 8' so that they child does not bump into anything if he or she falls out of a cartwheel. The child must also be barefoot and wear form-fitting clothes- nothing too loose. Parents must also supervise their student throughout the duration of the class to ensure the child is not pushing themselves too hard or risking injury.
