From Disney to Dr. Seuss, cartoonists have nurtured and developed their whimsical doodles to become established characters. Free-form doodling experiments and fun step-by-step methods will put students on their way to creating their own characters. This class is great place for aspiring illustrators, authors, comic artists, and game developers to create characters and develop a style. ⭐New to Outschool? Send me a message before you enroll!!!⭐ ⭐ Get $10 off your first class with coupon code BFAMANEW10 until Jun 21, 2025. Enter the coupon code at checkout. ⭐ Class will begin with introductions and an introduction to cartooning and comics as an art form. Discuss the drafting, sketching, editing, inking and coloring process. Discuss common head and body shapes used to create characters and provide examples (Sponge Bob, Patrick, Dogman, Popeye, Sonic the hedgehog, Animaniacs, Mickey Mouse, Loud House, My Little Pony, The Mighty Ones, Sharkdog, etc.) Students will design at least two unique characters, each with different body shapes and personalities. Finalize each drawing by outlining in black and coloring neatly. My goal is to create a fun, creative learning environment where students can comfortably learn and share their ideas with others who also love cartoons, comics, anime, and manga. Students will have the opportunity to share their work with other students live during the lesson with feedback and discussion, and/or share an image of their finished work in the classroom forum.
