Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner Level
Welcome to Cartooning, Anime and Character Design 4 Kids, an exciting program for kids ages 7 - 10 years who want to unleash their creativity and learn how to bring cartoon characters to life!

In this course, we'll dive into the world of cartoons and anime, exploring the construction and design of beloved characters. Using simple shapes and guidelines, students will quickly master the art of drawing with a stylus. Through collaborative projects, students will learn how to give their characters unique personalities and bring them to life with classic cartooning techniques. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this program is perfect for you!

This student-centered learning program is designed to help learners gain an understanding of creating and editing artwork, designing characters from scratch, and combining traditional and digital art techniques. Students will learn to translate their imagination into realization on their iPad using Procreate to create exciting art projects.

Our teaching style focuses on active participation, creativity, and collaboration. We believe that everyone has a unique way of expressing themselves and we'll help each student uncover their own style. With interactive sessions that use a mix of lectures, slides, and discussions, learners will have the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with their peers.

Throughout the course, we will cover a range of topics, including:

   - The basics of cartooning and character design
   - The importance of proportion and style
   - How to use color and shading to create depth and dimension
   - Classic cartooning techniques and how to apply them in a digital format
   - How to work with others to create collaborative projects
   - How to use Procreate to design and edit artwork

Our class is structured as a 55 Minute camp for two week, a total of over 10 classes. Each session will build on the previous one, so attendance is important to keep up with the course material. Day 1 the students will learn how Procreate works and start by learning how to create circles. Day 2 the students will learn how to draw eyes and mouths. Day 3 and 4 the students will learn about how emotions and exaggerations add to your drawing. Day 5 and 6 the students will learn about Body types, line of action, silhouettes and try drawing these. Day 7, 8 and 9, students will add more details to their drawings and learn other exiting techniques. Day 10 the students will take all the techniques they learn and finish adding features to their character.

No prior experience or knowledge is necessary to participate in this course. All learners need is a willingness to learn and an interest in exploring their creativity.

By the end of the program, students will have gained the skills and confidence to create their own unique characters and bring them to life in a digital format. They'll have fun exploring their creativity, working with their peers, and discovering new techniques for designing and editing artwork.

We look forward to helping your child unleash their creativity and take their first steps towards becoming a master cartoonist!
