Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
-Shape analysis: how to find the basic shapes that form each character
-Construction Lines, Sketch and Proportions: how to use line, size and shape to get the character's basic form
-Inking: How to trace over the sketch for a clean cartoon look
-Color: how to understand basic color theory to bring characters to life
-Key elements of character design for animals and humans
Students may chose to work digitally or with traditional paper.

IF YOUR STUDENT IS DRAWING WITH PAPER AND PENCIL:
-pencil
-eraser
-black gel pen or fine tip black marker for inking
-multiple sheets of paper (computer paper works great!) we might be tracing so sketchbook paper may be too thick and harder to work with
-Colored pencils or crayons to color the characters

IF YOUR STUDENT IS DRAWING DIGITALLY:
-digital device such as tablet, ipad, drawing tablet with pen, or computer that is separate from a device that they watch class on OR... they can easily draw with the device AND watch class at the same time
-digital drawing pen that works with their drawing device such as an apple pencil or stylus (I do NOT recommend drawing with a mouse or fingers. If you do not have a stylus or digital pen your student may enjoy class more if working with traditional paper and pencil instead.
-digital drawing software I used Autodesk Sketchbook because it is free and it can be used on windows and apple devices and it can also be used on computers and tablets. Here is the link to autodesk sketchbook: https://www.sketchbook.com/
*Please note that other digital drawing programs such as procreate or completely acceptable to use in class

*PLEASE HAVE PAPER AND PENCIL HANDY FOR CLASS JUST IN CASE YOUR STUDENT HAS TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES THEY CAN STILL PARTICIPATE!*
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
