Cars and Race Tracks Galore!
We'll bring our favorite toy cars to class, use basic reading comprehension strategies, practice counting our cars, graph our car colors, and have a show-and-tell of race tracks that students have built prior to the start of class!

Description
Class Experience
-Students will improve their ability to answer questions about a text. -Students will be able to sort their cars by color and create a simple bar graph. -Students will be able to build a race track, and share with their classmates how they built the track, as well as the materials they used to build it. -Students will be able to communicate clearly to their classmates and teacher as they share about their tracks and cars. -Students will be able to encourage one another as they share their work.
Students will be required to build a race track prior to the start of class, using materials within their home.
1 file available upon enrollment-5 toy cars per student -A race track, that should be built/completed before the start of class. This race track should be near the student/camera during class, so that when students have a turn to share their track, they are able to transition quickly to this activity. -Printed blank bar graph template (attached as a PDF) -Crayons
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There will be no formal assessment upon the completion of this class.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents are encouraged to support students throughout the lesson, but it is not required if students are able to complete activities independently.
