Students choose to pursue criminal justice degrees for a number of different reasons, from seeking an administrative role at a corrections facility to pursuing a position with a national security agency. A career in Criminal Justice can help develop the skills and knowledge needed to contribute to the prosecution, rehabilitation, and management of individuals in various stages of the criminal justice system. Popular television shows like "CSI” and "Law & Order" help inspire students to pursue degrees in criminology. This approach of studies focuses on crime as a social phenomenon and thus a social problem. This contrasts criminal justice, which establishes systems for detecting crimes, prosecuting and punishing offenders. In this 45 minute class we will dive into both forms of studies in relation to the careers and professions that can be obtained once education/vocational training is completed. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions during class and talk about the job they are most interested in and why. No prior knowledge in criminal justice is needed for this class _________________________________________ *** Classroom Policies *** - Please have your learner familiarize themselves with the Outschool features such as the unmute button and raising their hand.
