Class Experience

Instead of listening to music, you become the music in this exhilarating full-body workout that combines cardio, conditioning, and strength training with yoga and pilates-inspired movements. Using Ripstix®, lightly weighted drumsticks engineered specifically for exercising, POUND transforms drumming into an incredibly effective way of working out.

Designed for all fitness levels, POUND® provides the perfect atmosphere for letting loose, getting energized, toning up and rockin’ out! The workout is easily modifiable and the alternative vibe and  welcoming philosophy appeals to everyone and all ages and abilities.

Learning Goals
Students will drastically improve their rhythm, timing, coordination, speed, agility, endurance, and musicality. Instead of counting reps or keeping track of the clock, POUND strategically distracts you from the high-intensity and duration of your workout, and shifts your focus to rhythm and volume. This strategic distraction is responsible for the “addictiveness” of POUND – the reason you can’t stay away! 

Students will learn proper stick hold, proper physical techniques with pound and gain self confidence!!!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Safety is a top priority! Parents please be advised students need an open workout space that is free of any potential hazards. Proper footwear is needed and a water bottle is optional.Injuries potentially can occur if the student is not properly supervised.
Supply List
Students need to wear comfortable clothes to move in! Sneakers and will need either drum sticks or even a pair of wooden spoons/spatulas will do! Ripsticks from Poundfit can be purchased by students who want to really immerse themselves in other upcoming pound courses and camps but aren't necessary.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I’m a certified music teacher of 14 years having taught every age level! I have a Bachelors and Masters degree from Florida State University in Music Education. I also hold a certificate in Pound Fitness. 

I love integrating fitness into music. It’s pretty hard to listen to music and NOT move anyway so let’s just do it! From Pound (cardio drumming) to steady beat ball even to dance I live to get kids moving and families Making memorable moments  together! I also teach ukulele, drumming and other facets of music. 

I believe teaching music is about guiding students to a life long love of music. A passion, appreciation and understanding of the ways music can only make our lives that much richer. 

I’m a mom of two boys ages 6 and 3, a dog mom to a long hair dachshund and a wife to an amazing murse (male nurse) 😆.
