Want to make a sculpture with leftover cardboard you have laying around the house? This is the class for you! In this two-session class, we will dive into the worlds of both 2D and 3D art, and how to combine the two! With only four materials needed, this class is a great intro to what sculpture can be, and how you can quite literally turn trash into treasures! Students in this class have the choice of colors, shapes, and the way that they ultimately structure their cardboard into a sculptural...
Students will understand the definitions/differences of two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork. Students will creatively problem solve when creating a sculpture that should stand on it's own. Students will practice their communication skills when discussing their work as well as the work of their peers.
Homework will be to finish up whatever activity we began in class by the next session. Homework should not take more than an hour.
REQUIRED: - a good pair of scissors - cardboard sheets (an average sized box, ripped up into flat pieces should be fine!) - acrylic or tempera paint - paint brushes (at least one big one (1") and one smaller detail brush)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners will be assessed based on their participation in the discussions throughout class, as well as from their final sculpture.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will need a good pair of scissors to be able to cut through cardboard. Parents should be nearby to help if necessary, as well as to ensure the student is using safe cutting techniques (which will be gone over in class, but I will probably not be able to see scissors on their video 100% of the time!).
