Captivating Chemistry Camp: Let's Go Camping! A Science STEM Adventure (Pre-K)
In this 8-day STEAM camping adventure, preschool and kindergarten students will combine ingredients to create chemical reactions, work on arts and crafts, build, and socialize with new friends.

Class Experience
** Brand New Material: My STEM class families have asked for summer sessions. I am delighted to offer several mini-camps with totally new lessons that do not repeat anything from my STEM courses. They DO require more supplies than my semester courses. Your child will need help with some of the lessons.** Students age 3 will need more help with each lesson. We need at least 2 students in each class section. If your child is the only one in a section, you have the option of switching to...

Day 1: (Materials are dependent on what size tent your child is making. It can be a small tent for a stuffed friend or a fort for themselves.) -blocks or building bricks -stuffed animal or doll -large sheets of cardboard, boxes, blankets Day 2: -1 cup cornstarch -1/2 cup water -bowl -spoon -tray or cookie sheet to contain the mess -small pebbles, twigs, beads, and any other add ins you choose Day 3: -1 container marshmallow fluff -1 cup powdered sugar (and a bit extra may be needed) -bowl -spoon -*can use a bit on cooking oil on hands to keep it from sticky as much* Day 4: -1 clear cup filled with water -a rubberband -2 paper towels -1 1/2 cups of water -blue food coloring -a spoon Day 5: -egg carton -soil -packet of seeds (marigolds and grass seeds grow fast) -a large serving spoon -a cup of water -a tray to contain the mess Day 6: -printable template -construction paper -glue (liquid, not glue sticks) -glitter (any color you would like) (or a tube of glitter glue) -cotton swabs (Q-tips, any brand) -tray to contain the mess Day 7: -a flashlight Day 8: -pretzels sticks -peanut butter (or any nut butter, this is optional) -small bite-sized pieces of red and orange fruits, veggies, or candy (berries, oranges, red grapes, carrots, etc)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We have messy projects that will require adult assistance. We will also eat on the last day.
