Class Experience
In this 6 day beginners course, students be introduced to basic graphic design principles as well as how to use Canva. Each day will include a project created in Canva. 💵SAVE 💵 Day 1: Typography Name Posters Learners will be introduced to graphic design theory about fonts and how to use them in designs, using Canva. Students will learn some graphic design basics along with Canva skills in typography, color theory, design, and compilation through hands-on learning projects.
As a writer, business owner and teacher I use Canva everyday for just about everything. The class image and the video you see in all of my courses are created in Canva. I also have 3 years of teaching experience in graphic design as well as certifications in Adobe Photoshop and Business education. I've also been a language arts and creative writing teacher for the last 27 years.
Students may finish or tweak designs they create, but this is not required.

40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents, students will need a Canva account, which students can sign up through a private guardian account Google login. I will also have materials for students, such as notes about graphic design theory and helpful keyboard shortcuts in Canva. I deliver these materials through my Google drive. I also use YouTube videos as well as Kahoot and Pear Deck to make the class more interactive.
Short YouTube videos for kids about graphic design. I will make sure they are carefully vetted for age appropriateness.
