Optional Homework; Students can visit the American Kennel Club website to explore dogs breeds on their own. Each day students can report back on their favorite breed within a type of dog. This fun summer camp has everything a dog lover could want. We will study different dog breeds, service and rescue dogs, and how to care for dogs. We talk a little about the history of wild dogs. Students will have the opportunity to share their own dog with class if they desire. I will present the information in the first part of class in an interactive and engaging Canva Slide presentation. The presentation will include lots of exciting pictures and some videos. I love to hear from the kids! Students will be encouraged to ask questions. After the presentation, the class with either play a quiz on kahoot or do a dog related art project. Day One: Wild Dogs, Types of Dog Breeds, Spotlight Breeds: Labrador Retrievers Day Two: Service and Rescue Dogs, Spotlight Breeds: Dalmatians, Bulldogs Day Three: Caring for a dog, Spotlight Breeds: Shar Pei, Boston Terrier, Draw a dog Day Four: Share your dog, Ugly dogs, Spotlight Breeds: Chihuahua, Chinese Crested, Portuguese Water Dog, Komondor
Learning Goals
Students will learn about different dog breeds as well as the history of wild dogs. Students will develop their art skills by drawing and coloring. Students will develop their social skills by sharing their love of dogs with their classmates.

Hi! My name is Lydia. I am a teacher and a librarian. I love learning, and I think learning should be fun. I like to laugh, sing, and play with little kids, and I love exploring strange and exciting topics with older learners.
Throughout the course of my career, I have worked with kids of all ages - from children as young as three all the way up to high school seniors.I have worked as a classroom teacher, preschool teacher, school librarian, nanny, camp counselor, and volleyball coach. I have more than ten years experience working with kids. I have a Bachelor's degree in English. I also have a Master's degree in Library and Informational Sciences specializing in school library media. When I completed my Master's program, I receiving a teaching certificate in the state of Virginia.
Before my career in education, I worked as a newspaper reporter. I still love reading a daily newspaper, and I am very passionate about current events.
I also love to cook and bake, and I'm really good at it. I even have my own wheat grinder and make my own bread. It's not all healthy, though. I can make some of the best tasting ice cream in the world! Check out some of my cooking classes, and I'll teach you all you need to know!
