Your child will love this class! We will explore fractions and learn equivalent fractions with our favorite candy! We will begin class by reviewing parts of a fractions and making a few simple fractions with our candy. We will then move to making equivalent fractions through discovery. Class will be fun, laid back, and helpful! As an elementary teacher I hope to focus on the areas where I know students struggle in the classroom. Students will review fractions, and explore equivalent fractions. We will make discoveries with fractions using our favorite candy as a hands on tool.
Students will need to bring a pack of their favorite small candy to class. Examples include: M&M's, Skittles, Gumdrops, Mike & Ike, Jelly Beans, Gummy Bears. Students will want a clean working area so they can eat their snack when we finish. Students should also bring a dry erase board and marker or paper and pencil to class.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
