Description

Class Experience

I am a Métis individual from Canada with an Honours Degree in Literature and Music from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. My studies focused primarily on Canadian Literature, creative writing, and music (voice). During my studies, I was heavily involved in the literary arts community in Winnipeg, with a direct focus on Métis literature.
(as needed) The Book of Negroes: Lawrence Hill Fifth Business: Robertson Davies Seconds: Bryan Lee O’Malley From the Ashes - Jesse Thistle Louis Riel: A Comic-strip Biography, Chester Brown Fall On Your Knees: Ann Marie MacDonald
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parents are the best judge of their learners' sensitivities and maturity. Some of the pieces we will read are intense, and a few bring up sensitive issues, such as innate violence and systemic racism. I would be happy to provide links for parents to preview any of the literature they are concerned about.
