Description

Class Experience

Students will learn about the different provinces and territories of Canada.
Students will have an understanding of the geography of each area.
I am a certified teacher in the province of Ontario, Canada (OCT number can be privately given if needing verification of my certification). I am certified in the intermediate and senior levels for History and Geography. I also have completed my Special Educations Part 1 certificate.
I have specifically studied Canadian history from pre-contact to the 20th century, Canadian tourism, and the geography of Canada (human and physical geography). My lessons will be factually based using a variety of trusted sources that I have acquired through my research.
Here are some specific areas of study that I have completed: Colonial Canada, Post-Confederation Canada, Money and Power in the Atlantic World, 1400-1850; Native-Newcomer Relations in Canada, Geography of Canada, Tourism Planning and Development.
- Students will be provided with handouts that they can use to help guide their learning.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class will use the websites Kahoot and Blooket. Both are trivia games. During our class time, students will be given a link through the Zoom chat which will take them directly into the game. They do not need to download anything or use any personal information to play.

When discussing the history of the provinces and territories, this course will at times deal with sensitive matters such as wars, colonization and the wrongful treatment of Indigenous peoples, and other material that is relevant to Canadian history. To help students understand these difficult topics, I will be using first-hand accounts when possible to help tell the stories of those impacted by these events.
