US Grade 3 - 6
During this one hour class, students will actively engage in a choose your own adventure style game. While engaging in this activity learners will learn facts about the Oregon Trail as well as daily struggles that settlers experienced while traveling. As learners progress though the game we will discuss how this westward movement affected Indigenous Nations, the environment, as well as animal life. Students will use their background knowledge and critical thinking skills to survive on the Oregon Trail. Background knowledge of pioneers and trails out west is helpful but not a requirement. Learner progress will be monitored throughout the simulation and lesson.
