Can You Solve Even More of History's Greatest Mysteries? - FLEX
What's included
Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
History is filled with mysteries! While we can study artifacts (clues), they only give us small glimpses of the truth behind them. In this flex class students will learn about some of the world's most mind blowing mysteries. Each week students will watch a prerecorded video about the historical event. I will present the known facts of the mystery and students will have the opportunity to problem solve and use critical thinking skills to determine what they think might have happened. Students will complete a series of polls and submit their top theories. This provides an opportunity for them to really think about each theory and situation. Once they've completed the survey I ask that each student share their favorite result with the class. This is where the fun really begins as students get to discuss and share their ideas! Day 1 Loch Ness Monster Day 2 Winchester Mystery House Day 3 Mary Celeste - Ghost Ship Day 4 The Dancing Plague

Parental Guidance
Due to some of the topics discussed, this class may not be suitable for all learners.
As with many stories in history, some of these mysteries involve death. Although we will not discuss the details in depth, students will be aware that people died in some of these mysteries. There will be no pictures of deceased individuals and conversations will be steered away from discussing deaths in any great length.

Hello families! I’m Amanda and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach your learner! I love everything about education and feel consider being a teacher as part of who I am. It is my passion!
I have a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education, two active teaching licenses in Arizona and reading and ESL endorsements. I've been teaching since 2017 and I'm working towards a master's in child and adolescent development.
My goal as your learner’s teacher is to inspire them to be lifelong learners. Learning is scary and requires a lot of vulnerability to take chances knowing you could make a mistake. I pride myself on helping students feel safe, confident, and secure in themselves. I’ve always seen tremendous growth in students when they are in an environment that allows for them to safely make mistakes and learn from them.
I’m looking forward to meeting your learner and joining them in their educational journey!
