In this course students will be guided and taught how to explore careers of interest, carefully examining income potential. They will be taught how to read a check stub, calculate items withheld and arrive at their net income. After this, students will be randomly assigned their marital status and how many children they have for the activity. They will then be guided through a simulation of adult life. I wrote and orchestrated this program to use with at risk youth ages 14-21. This was an annual event attended by hundreds of youth each year. Pre-test and post-test assessments indicated overwhelming growth in understanding the concepts taught through this activity. I have facilitated this as an expo-style event as well as a guided in-class activity.
All necessary materials will be provided as PDFs.
