Welcome to Can You Make Inferences? Group Tutoring to Build Critical Thinking In this class, students will be introduced to how to make inferences through interactive discussions! A child engaging in an inferences activity learns to think critically and analyze information beyond what is explicitly stated. They develop improved reading comprehension by understanding implied meanings, enhance their attention to detail, and sharpen their problem-solving skills through logical reasoning. These activities also help children articulate their thought processes, and promote empathy by encouraging them to consider others' perspectives. Class schedule: 🌱 Week of 2/23 - Baking, Yelling, New Idea 🌱 Week of 3/2 - Slime, Blocks, Superhero 🌱 Week of 3/9 - Detective, Bike, Dance 🌱 Week of 3/16 - Jump rope, Tired, Race car 🌱 Week of 3/23 - Questions, Injury, Litter 🌱 Week of 3/30 - Skateboard, Doctor, Science Experiment 🌱 Week of 4/6- Movies, Snowman, Gardening After the final week, the topics will recycle back to the beginning. ⭐️ First: The students will learn the importance of using context clues to support WHY the inference we are making could be true! ⭐️ Next: The teacher will help guide the students through making an inference with a provided picture and prompts. ⭐️ Then: The students will make their own inferences with a given picture and, with the teacher`s assistance if necessary, create a paragraph to explain why they came to the conclusions they made based on the given picture. ⭐️ Last: Time permitting, the students will be given the opportunity to create their own picture by drawing on the screen or on a paper at home. When this is complete, the teacher will have to use context clues and critical thinking skills to make an inference what she thinks is happening. The student will be encouraged to add commentary on how accurate the teacher`s inference was based on their own interpretation! 🌼We look forward to seeing you soon! 🌼
