In this one day class, I will teach your child the importance of finding clues in reading passages which will help them with reading comprehension, and how to use part of the question in the answer about the passage.

PLEASE PRINT OUT MATERIALS IN FILES PRIOR TO COMING TO CLASS! In this one day class, your child will become reading detectives searching for text evidence and/or clues to show their understanding of the passages we will be reading. We will be reading two non-fiction passages thoroughly for comprehension. It is helpful by listening to the text, reading the text out loud together, and then reading the text independently. Students will improve their reading comprehension, learn to look closely for text evidence to answer questions, and practice writing answers by restating the question.
I am a credentialed California teacher, and tutor who uses these types of passages to teach reading comprehension. I have been using this method for years and find it very valuable for both struggling and on-level students to make great gains in their reading comprehension.

1 file available upon enrollmentLearners will need copies of the passages that I will upload at least 2 days before the class. I find it more helpful for parents to upload what is needed for each class instead of everything all at once. For the class, your child will also need to bring colored pencils or crayons, writing pencils, and writing paper. Please no colored markers.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
We will being using passages from Teachers Pay Teachers.
