This has been one of my more popular flex classes, and live classes, and in-person classes I've offered to my local Homeschool group, local community during the summer, and even with my adult private lessons. And now I'm finally able to turn it into a live camp class. I love teaching watercolor, it's a fun fluid medium where you can be incredibly creative. My favorite part about teaching art classes is when I get to see the world through the eyes of the students by viewing their interpretations of the assignments I give them in class.

As mentioned in my teacher profile I have 10 years of experience teaching early education pre-K classes, in both North Carolina and Utah. I have been able to use my degrees in Visual Arts with a focus on Art History from NCSU and my Associate in Arts from Wake Tech Community College, to teach kids and adults: various art classes here in North Carolina for the past 7 years. With my scouting connections I have had 5 years experience teaching science and history classes in North Carolina and Florida. Whether it was as a Co-Op teacher for my local home school groups, Art merit Badge Counselor for the local Boy Scout clinic, teaching STEAM classes for Cub Scouts, Nail art and Jewelry Crafting to teenage girls in my church, or summer art classes through my business, The Painting Panda, I love being able to share what I have learned!
Supplies Needed: Watercolor paint: a set of watercolor paint tablets at least 36 colors, please make sure it comes with: white, gray, brown and black Tablets are solid until we add water to them. Watercolor paper size: 9x12 (or similar size) but just 5 sheets Brush set (any brand) (flat tipped brush size medium and large, large and medium sized round tipped or pointy tipped brushes, and a small round tipped or pointy tipped brush I call a detailed brush Paper Towels or 1 reusable rag Painter's tape 1 inch (thin): masking tape, or washi tape can be used as well Thin black sharpie OR black gel pen OR black drawing pen PLEASE stay away from the CRAYOLA Brand watercolors, as the quality of paint will not give you the results we need for this class. Changing these supplies, or not getting the supplies listed will mean different results in art quality for your students, as well as students being frustrated due to lacking in supplies. If you can't get what is on this list PLEASE let me know BEFORE you come to class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
5 hours per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents are welcome to help students during class, but need to be off screen during the class duration and need to stay quiet if they do need to come help a student, as a safety policy Outschool asks teachers to enforce.

Parents for the SAFETY of our students (your learners) please allow them to have access to a working web camera when taking this class. I need to visually see or hear that there is a student taking my class or the account without one will be kicked out of class, and sent to Outschool safety team. For more info on this, please see the parent FAQ posted on the Outschool website.

If this is your learner's first Outschool class I recommend getting familiar with the Zoom interface and platform before the class starts. Outschool has a few articles and videos that can help. Unfortunately I am really unable to deal with any technical issues once class has begun and if you are experiencing issues, it's best to contact technical support at Outschool directly via the HELP tab on the website.

Adults, it is imperative that you have your children set up and ready for class on time. Our supplies are the exact same all 5 days of camp: 1 inch masking tape/ painters tape (not clear tape), set of 36 watercolor paints (please make sure your paints have the 3 following colors as not all sets do come with: black, gray, and white paints), 1 large flat tipped brush, 1 medium sized flat tipped brush, 1 large, medium and small round tip or pointy tipped brush, thin black pen/sharpie/drawing pen, paper towel or reusable rag.

I am not your typical art teacher who teaches from a mold, and expects kids to fit into a box. Being taught with that mindeset prevented true creativity, self exploration and expression, and any honest confidence in my...
