Camp: Theater (Theatre) Games for 8-10 Year Olds

Designed specifically for younger kids, this week-long session will introduce them to improv and theater games. Kids will spend one hours connecting with peers, playing games, all while developing social skills and critical thinking.

Class Experience

Think you have a budding comedian or performer? Want your kids to remember how to have fun without a gaming console? Are your kids just looking to try something new and creative? This is the perfect way for kids to get an introduction to improv and theater while they laugh together with new friends.

Kids will spend an hour and connecting with peers, learning comedy and games, and creating their own fun out of nothing. Improv is particularly beneficial to this age group as it builds resilience, creativity, problem solving and connection.  Class will balance learning the fundamental skills of improv, helping budding thespians build their skills, and plain old fun games and creativity. Using the principle of Yes, And kids learn to support trying new things, supporting each other’s ideas.

Day 1: Principle of Yes, And- We will work on verbally and phsycially accepting things our scene partners say and do.
Day 2: Characters- We will work on creatinging characters from characters we know, to ones that we don't but create on the spot.
Day 3:Story telling- We will work on Story telling in improv, collaboratively and individually building improvised stories.
Days 4and 5: Short-Form Games:  We will do a deep dive into short-form improv comedy and fun games.

-play more than 20 theater games they can play with their friends and family outside of class

Parental Guidance
For kids with motivation issues, impulse control, immaturity, parent may need to be near by to support their learner in engaging.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
