Description

Class Experience

Over the years I have loved helping children and teens from 2 years old to 19 improve their speech, language, auditory, phonics, reading and brain fitness skills and much more. I meet my students where they are at their level. As I teach, I adjust to help reluctant learners as well as others who may need or want more challenge. I have decades of experience teaching each of these types of learners within the same class. I try to make my classes engaging and fun. I have a wide range of experience that includes teaching those on the autism spectrum, learning disabled students, add/adhd and many more areas of concern, as well as, experience teaching regular and gifted learners. I have found that patient encouragement in a structured and energetic yet relaxed classroom environment helps learners brains focus to receive information better and helps them become detail oriented.
No homework completion is required. However, optional practice worksheets will be available in the classroom after class. Helpful tips learned during class will also be available in the classroom after class.
I will screen share the reading passage during class. Learners should have a pencil with an eraser or erasable pen and a sheet of paper in case it is needed for notes or to write answer choices to help with comprehension. Usually shortly after class, but at least within 12-24 hours after each day of the class, learners will have the option to download and print out the daily reading passage from the classroom as well as a practice sheet and helpful hints we discussed in class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal observation throughout class and the option to have practice worksheets checked for accuracy and receive feedback.
1 hour 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
