Description
Class Experience
Your learner will be able to describe the following geometry terms: line, point, ray, segment, parallel, perpendicular, two dimensional polygons including quadrilateral, rectangle, parallelogram, square, rhombus, triangle (right, equilateral (regular), isosceles, scalene), acute angles, obtuse angles, right angle, supplementary angles, complimentary angles, area, perimeter, volume, circumference, radius, and coordinate plane. They will also be familiar with a fun chant (rap) that goes along with these concepts.
I have homeschooled and worked with young learners for 18 years. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of information technology consultants, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career. I've also taught math in the public schools and in private and homeschool settings. I have over 16 years of teaching experience for K-9th grades.
No homework will be assigned for this class.
1 file available upon enrollmentPaper, pencil, and a brain ready for thinking fun!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The learner's progress is assessed by how well the learner participates in the interactions during class.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
Your learner should have some familiarity with adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing. For kids at the younger age of the age range of this class, your learner should have the ability to move at a pace with second and third graders. For kids at the older age of the age range for this class, your learner should have the proper perspective and attitude to be able to sing and chant and laugh along with kids of all ages, appreciating the fun in learning through chants, songs and rhythm. These types of classes for early elementary are great building blocks of memory "grammar" work that sets a foundation for later higher math courses.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
