Welcome to Mrs. Rachel's summer camp "Kindergarten Here We Come!" We will learn about kindergarten readiness! We will have a new theme each week! We will learn and have fun! Our class will meet for 35 minutes a day, 4 times a week Monday-Thursday for 13 weeks. We have Friday off so we can relax and enjoy the weekend so that the kiddos come back Monday refreshed! We will cover the basic concepts and skills that students need to be ready for kindergarten. This class is filled with writing,...
This class is taught in English.
Students will improve: -Social and Emotional Skills -Basic Math/Number Skills (number recognition, number writing, counting, adding, and subtracting) -Letter Sounds (Identifying alphabet, letters, producing their sounds, and beginning/middle/end) -Concepts of Print (Building words, reading and writing left to right, top to bottom, spacing) -Writing/Drawing (letter and shape formation) -Sight words (high-frequency words)
-15+ years of experience with teaching children. -9 years as lead teacher and teacher's assistant. -OCFS trained and certified (New York State Office of Children and Family Services). -TCRWP (Teacher College for Reading and Writing Project) Certified. -Health and Safety Training Certification.
Each week, parents will receive a PDF with optional extension work for students to complete after class if they wish!
-Whiteboard and whiteboard marker or plain sheet of paper -Child size scissors -Crayons, Markers, or Colored Pencils -Pencil or "Fat" Pencil (This is better for muscle development) -Glue Stick -Colored construction paper
Informal assessment will be given.
2 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents are welcome to help their child off-screen at any time. It is highly recommended that parents are present when we do brain break movement time so that your child doesn't hurt themselves during movement time. --Scissor Safety-- Parents should be present to help if we use scissors for crafts.
