History has its eyes on Hamilton. In this 4 day camp, we will be analyzing the characters and historical events that are portrayed in the film Hamilton. Every day, using the lyrics from the songs, we will compare a character from the musical to what we know to be historically accurate. In each class, the students will be asked what they know about the characters from the film and then we will compare that to what we know to be historically true. Historical information will be presented through PowerPoint slides. As this is a discussion class, students will be highly encouraged to interact with myself and each other. Day 1: Alexander Hamilton Day 2: Eliza Hamilton Day 3: Aaron Burr Day 4: John Laurens and Marquis de Lafayette It is recommended that the students have either seen the play or the film, so that they can fully participate in our discussions. This class will be a great way to combine history with pop culture and make learning fun! This class does require at least 2 students enrolled for it to run.
Learning Goals
