Class Experience

In this on-going campaign, every student will have the chance to become the legend of their dreams. This campaign is especially geared towards Greek mythology while also leaning into other cultures' mythologies and folklore.
Structure: We will create characters, establish "lines and veils" (a safety tool to make sure everyone is having a fun and enjoyable time), decide on the "vibe" of the game (easygoing vs. hardcore, mystery-focused vs. combat-oriented), and ask any other questions of each other that arise. After checking in, we will play the game of Dungeons and Dragons with a heavy focus on Greek mythology.
As the teacher, I will function as the Game Master. I will provide the challenges and twists as students move their characters through the world. Many GMs have a particular style of how they do things but I like to stay fluid in my approach because every party of adventurers are different. As a group, we'll be in constant communication for the entire hour and a half we're in the game.
As a general rule, it would be fantastic if your student has played DnD before but it is not a prerequisite. I have taught many folks, adult and children alike, this wondrous game and I'd be delighted to teach yours as well. Your student does not have to have read Percy Jackson to understand and engage with this class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn critical thinking, teamwork, creativity, roleplaying, math skills, and mythology.

Parental Guidance
Please be aware that this particular game of Dungeons and Dragons that I've imagined can have fantasy combat descriptions and death. We will decide how much description the students would prefer when we establish our lines and veils. You, as the guardian, can always include your own lines and veils and I'll gladly abide by them.
