Camp Groovy! | Geometry | Far Out Trigonometry | Camp

In this 6-day 25-min-a-day summer camp, students learn & apply rules for sine, cosine, and tangent using the ratios of the sides of a right triangle including opposite, adjacent, and hypotenuse. This includes the use of the mnemonic device SOHCAHTOA where SOH CAH and TOA help the learner get familiar with the trig ratios.

Description

Class Experience

After this mini-camp, your learner will be able to say, "I can identify the opposite side, adjacent side, and hypotenuse of a right triangle given an angle. I can solve a right triangle. I can solve challenging trig problems and word problems."
I've been certified in the public schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certified training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career.
No homework will be assigned for this class.
 1 file available upon enrollment
Paper, pencil, and a brain ready to learn and share.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The learner's progress is assessed by how well the learner participates in the interactions during class.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students should have completed Algebra I or have the confidence to follow along at that level of math.
No outside sources are needed.
