Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to engage with each other as they discuss questions of right and wrong. At the end of the series they will be very familiar with how to have a discussion on ethics (they will be able to state the Issue at hand, the Facts involved in making the decision, the Alternatives available to them, the Values which will guide them in making the decision, and finally their Decision.) They will also be able to spot ethical issues and evaluate them based on several philosophical methods.
There will be no homework - all work will be done orally in class.
There will be no assessments.
4 hours 35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
We might be discussing some political issues (they often arise when discussing ethics) but I will not be expressing any personal political opinions to the class and will not allow discussion to become politically (as opposed to ethically) heated. I will not be addressing abortion, suicide, or other obviously triggering topics.
