Beginner Level
This is an extensive 3 week course that will take learners through the essay writing process and produce 3 of the major essay types. Learners will go through the journey of each essay beginning with brainstorming and outlining their ideas, drafting their writing, revising their own work and reviewing their peers, working on teacher-given suggestions, and creating a final essay in MLA9 format to share with the class if they wish. The teacher will offer pointed and specific guidance as learners craft their essays. The teacher will encourage learners and make suggestions and examples for the learners to apply to their writing. Discussion and peer support will be fostered in each class. Each learner will be given their own copy of a Google Doc for each type of essay that they will work on in class and out of class. The teacher and the learner will be able to work on the document simultaneously.
