Description

Class Experience

In this 3 day camp, learners will create 3 super fun and delicious desserts. Kids will learn how to measure ingredients, read a recipe, and work safely around the stove. They can get creative with their decorations as well as learn about the origins of the recipes they are making.  
I have been working as a kids enrichment teacher for the last 3 years.  I love teaching children and allowing them to create and think outside the box.  I have a 9-year-old son who is on the Autism Spectrum, so am a very patient and understanding teacher.  I realize all children learn differently and it is imperative to really listen to each child in order for them to feel secure and safe.
Day one- Cake Pops Day two-Funfetti cheesecake Day Three- Oreo Truffles Day One- Cake Pops--- PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CAKE IS BAKED BEFORE CLASS!!!!!!!!! Premade unfrosted cake (boxed is fine- any flavor your child prefers is great!) 1 (16 ounces) container prepared vanilla frosting ¼ cup multi-colored candy sprinkles, or as needed (optional) 1 (24 ounces) package vanilla almond bark, or as needed (this is nut free-even though it says almonds- there are no nuts in it) food coloring if you'd like to color your almond bark 1 package paper lollipop sticks 1 12x12-inch block of styrofoam or anything that you can put your cake pop sticks into as they dry fork spoon stove rubber spatula double boiler (or microwave) Day two- Funfetti cheesecake (no bake) 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (or 10 graham cracker sheets) 2 Tablespoons sugar 1 Tablespoons brown sugar packed 7 Tablespoons butter melted 1½ c. heavy cream 12 oz. cream cheese softened ½ c. sugar 1 c. birthday cake mix Rainbow sprinkles, for decorating 2 Bowls Spatula Hand mixer Pie Pan Ziplock Bag Rolling Pin Measuring cup spoon Day Three- Oreo Truffles 4.3 ounces Oreos (1 package) 8 ounces softened cream cheese (1 brick) 1 package of vanilla almond bark Sprinkles or any decoration Bowl Mixing Spoon Food Processor or Large zip Lock bag and Rolling Pin Cookie Sheet Parchment Paper Double Boiler (or Microwave) Fork
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Safety is the number one priority when in the kitchen.  The students will learn proper knife skills and how to safely handle and use a knife.  There will be times when we will be using the stove and it is imperative that the children are safe and have an adult nearby to oversee them during those times. I will be sure to go over how we work around a stove and proper safety measures when cooking on a stove. Please take note of any allergies your child may have.
