The Minecraft platform encourages students to build skills like collaboration, communication, critical thinking, and systems thinking. In this class for beginner EFL & ESL speakers, students will take part in different projects in Minecraft, each with a historical theme. The main objective will be to first complete simple activities, such as building a house, or a farm in Minecraft. We will then move on to building more difficult things in Minecraft, such as automated farms. At the start of each class I will teach the students some simple vocabulary and sentences based on the Cambridge English curriculum, specifically CEFR levels A. Then we will login to the game and use the new language to complete simple activities in Minecraft. The focus of these ongoing classes is not only on EFL and ESL, it is also on establishing a community mindset, and developing communication skills.
