This will be a teacher led class however student input will be welcome and valued. The calming techniques will be demonstrated and the students will work along with me. The difference between relaxation and calming practices and mindfulness techniques will be clarified and students will try all of these. Techniques to enhance the learner's ability to focus will be included. The students will have a chance to reflect on the situations where they could use the techniques to reach a state of being calm, relaxed and focused and how their body responds when they feel worried, anxious, upset or stressed. This will then provide an opportunity for the course to be individualised for the students as they each select techniques they feel will work best for them. There will be a mixture of short and longer calming practices. We will work on breathing techniques and mindfulness visualisation. Students will be provided with transcripts of the techniques so that they can practise and build competency in achieving a state of calm or relaxation and benefit from mindfulness practice when they choose to. Students will be learning how to manage their stress, regulate their emotions and optimise their ability to focus. Students will be welcome to email me with any queries they have or successes they would like to share. PLEASE NOTE: This class has a minimum enrolment of 2, however the class may be offered on a 1-1 basis at times. If the scheduled times are not suitable please contact me to request alternative times.
