What's included
1 live meeting
2 in-class hoursClass Experience
Class will kick off with each student presenting their business plan to date- what's their idea? What do they sell? Why would people buy their product or service over others? From there we'll review some basic concepts of revenue, variable costs, and fixed costs to create an overall balance sheet for our first year. Together we'll create a business plan in slide form for each business idea. Note: Business Basics is not a pre-requisite for this course but students who enjoyed Business Basics can expand on that foundation during this time
Learning Goals
Students will expand on math skills like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division while calculating their annual balance sheet. Additionally, each student will learn business vocabulary like the difference between variable and fixed costs as well as gross profit and net income. We'll bring these concepts to life through their own ideas and business plans.
Finally, students will learn how to navigate powerpoint or google slides features like chart creation to build out their business plans visually.

Supply List
Learners should have access to a laptop and need to have access to either Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides (easily accessible through your Google Drive). I will share a template before class for both services so students can opt into whichever program they feel most comfortable working in. Students should also have access to Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets (also accessible through your Google Drive). Prior experience with these programs is helpful but not necessary.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi there!
I'm Hilary- Philosophy BA, MBA, and PhD candidate in Strategy. Ive worked in retail, consulting, and Bay Area startups-- and through it all have continued to devote my time to tutoring and teaching students of all ages. Excited to get to know you and your young learners to get their minds moving through math, logic, and business.
I like classes to be fun and creative- more thinking together than listening to me talk. I want to bring these concepts to life through play, crafts, and hands on projects!
