Calling All Wizards - Let's Make Dragon Eggs!
Class experience
Kids of all ages are captivated by fantasies set in Medieval times. Castles, knights in armor, princesses in distress, and of course - fire-breathing dragons - capture and hold their imaginations for much of their young lives. In this one-time class, your learner(s) can enter their own fantasy world of wizardry and dragons as we make our very own dragon egg. As they work, they can spin fantastical tales with their classmates of jousting tournaments, haunted forests and animals that transform...
* Newspaper or similar to protect work area. * 1 Styrofoam egg - the size is up to you and your learner. ("Real" dragon eggs are quite large.) You can find these at most craft or hobby stores. * Aluminum foil (enough to cover the egg) * A bunch of inexpensive thumbtacks, any finish. (Enough so that the overlapping flat tops will more than cover the egg. So, the larger the egg, the more thumbtacks you will need.) * An inexpensive Styrofoam block (This will be used to hold the tacks while being painted.) * At least two different colors of metallic/sparkly nail polish. * Optional - A hand-held hair dryer that has a low or cool setting ... IF you already have access to one. Please do not purchase one for this class. PLEASE NOTE: If you would prefer your learner not use nail polish (due to possible spills or drips), you may instead purchase 10mm sequins and sequin pins. In this case you would not need the thumbtacks, Styrofoam block, nail polish or hair dryer.)
If possible, learners will use a standard, hand-held hair dryer (on the cool setting) to help their colors dry faster.
