Welcome fellow superheroes! In this Captain Underpants class, students will read one of their favorite parts (one chapter) about any of the Captain Underpants books in the series, written by Dav Pilkey. Students will talk about why they liked it as well as write about it. They can even draw it out using a comic book template (it will be provided once they enroll in the class). If you like to laugh and read graphic novels, this class is perfect for you! We will all be sharing in the reading...
In this casual format students will improve their fluency by practicing reading smoothly and with expression, which occurs naturally with this type of text. Inference is achieved through discussion of the character and author’s intention using context clues. Lastly, students identify cause and effect because most stories have events that have occurred due to the character’s actions. Students in this class will practice each of these concepts.
1 file available upon enrollmentA comic strip template can be downloaded once the student is enrolled.
