US Grade Preschool - Pre-Kindergarten
In this ongoing class, learners will have fun interacting with others while learning all things Pre-K! I work hard to make sure students are engaged and having fun during each class. I believe having fun while learning is essential! Students don't even realize they are learning and their ability to retain information increases exponentially when they learn through fun activities. Come join me in class for lots of learning FUN! Throughout this ongoing class, children will learn the skills needed prior to entering Kindergarten. The concepts to be learned include (but are not limited to): ⭐Literacy/Language: Learners will identify and trace/write letters, learn sight words, practice their listening comprehension, develop phonological awareness by rhyming, clapping out syllables, learning letter sounds, and more. ⭐Math: Learners will count by ones to at least 20, learn the concepts of more than/fewer than, measurements, ordinal numbers, sorting and sequencing, AB/AABB/ABAB patterns, classifications (big/small/same/different), shapes, colors, positional words, and more. ⭐Science: Learners will identify seasons, weather, learn about life cycles, the five senses, force and motion, animals, insects, habitats, climate, and more. ⭐Social Studies: Learners will identify and learn about community helpers, things in their neighborhood, road rules, landforms, cultures, transportation, and more. We will begin each class by greeting each other and singing a song. We will then jump into our Calendar Corner, where we will discuss the day of the week and the weather. Each day will include letter identification and writing practice, along with Language, Math, Science, and/or Social Studies concepts. I use different teaching strategies and manipulatives to create a multi-sensory learning experience for students. Music, movement, and activities will be incorporated into our classes to keep little learners engaged. These will often occur during our "Brain Breaks," which are so beneficial in keeping students focused and motivated. Hello! My name is Veronica Rojas and I am excited to meet you! I have had the pleasure of working with children since my early teen years. I have taught gymnastics, music, ESL, Spanish, and elementary/middle/high school grades). I have homeschooled my children for the past 15 years and have also been an online teacher for the past five years. I am a loving and patient educator who believes learning should be FUN! I encourage participation and lots of questions in all of my classes. When I am not teaching, I absolutely love spending time with my husband and children. We have two special needs children (Cerebral Palsy and Autism Spectrum Disorder) and a typical child that keep us on our toes! We love the outdoors, hiking, singing, playing instruments, cooking, and playing board games together. I look forward to meeting your children in the classroom!
