In this ongoing, weekly course, learners will have the opportunity to talk about all things Pokémon and to use their expertise to teach the teacher everything they know.

In this weekly, ongoing social club, learners will have the opportunity to discuss all things Pokémon. They will be encouraged to share their expertise on the subject and will have the chance to learn even more from their classmates. Each learner may also bring 2 Pokémon cards or figures to share during each class. There will be two main types of interactions during each week's meeting. First, learners will be able to talk to each other an discuss different aspects of the Pokémon world. Second, learners will have the opportunity to "teach the teacher" who knows enough about the subject to have a conversation and ask intelligent questions but fully admits that she still has a lot to learn. Being able to explain a topic to someone else and share your knowledge in a respectful and constructive way is a valuable social skill. It builds communication skills and helps learners gain confidence in themselves. Each meeting will progress as learners direct. As this is primarily a social club, discussions will progress as naturally as possible. The teacher will facilitate by asking questions and engaging with each learner so that everyone has ample time to talk. In addition, there will be weekly topic ideas in case the discussion needs a starting point. Week of August 19: Types of Pokémon Week of August 26: Pokémon evolutions Week of September 2: All things Pokémon cards Week of September 9: Pokémon games Week of September 16: Pokémon on TV Week of September 23: Pokémon extremes (biggest, strongest, fastest, etc)

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I'm Teacher Tricia, and I'm so happy to be here on Outschool with you. I teach classes in a variety of subjects including language arts, literature, history, and life skills. As a homeschool mom of two kiddos, I have experience teaching in many different subjects and with ages ranging from early elementary through middle school. I also currently teach at a local co-op where classes are held on a once a week basis in a format very similar to that of Outschool except that I am actually in the same room as my students. In addition I attended Purdue University with a major in Elementary education and received plenty of classroom experience during my time there. I believe education should be a life-long endeavor, and I strive to learn something new everyday. It is my firm belief that when information is given in a fun and interesting way, students are much more likely to find the learning process enjoyable and to remember their classes and the subjects taught far into the future. I also ensure that each of my classes meets the needs of learners of all types. By presenting materials in many different ways and formats, I hope to be able to connect with each and every learner.
