During this one hour immersive learning adventure, students will bond with nature as they virtually explore, using an interactive map, a 1700's historic farm and its many hiking trails.

Class experience

US Grade 4 - 6
* Students will be able to understand the term Immersive Learning
* Students will be able to understand how to use an interactive map
* Students will understand how to complete an online form
* Students will be able to apply their sense of sight and hearing
* Students will be able to remember and apply information about:
- plants
- trees
-mammals
- birds
- fish
- the weather
- navigation 
- reading maps
* Students will remember and apply academic vocabulary related to science, nature, hiking and technology

As a Computer and STEM teacher, I have taught children in grades K-8, for several years. I have also been a nature summer camp counselor for children, ages 6-12.

Formative assessment will be conducted during class by having learners: * Answer higher-order questions that ask why and how * Give a thumbs up if they are understanding the lesson * Use a hand wave if they need help * Summarize what they have learned (just prior to the end of class) A Certificate of Achievement in .pdf file format, upon completion of the class, will be e-mailed to the student via the Outschool Platform

* YouTube - This resource will be used to present informative educational videos related to the topics of this class. No student account is necessary for this resource. This resource will only be used as a screen-share tool. Students will not be visiting this educational tool.
* Smore - This resource will be used as an online newsletter that will enable the presentation of initial introductions and greetings, class rules, Zoom Pointers, What will I learn today? list, and other pertinent links (Nearpod online poll and Google Slides presentation). No student account is necessary for this resource. This resource will also only be used as a screen-share tool. Students will not be visiting this educational tool.
* Voki - This website uses animated characters to enhance the overall learning experience. No student account is necessary. This resource will only be used as a screen-share tool. Students will not be visiting this educational tool.
* Nearpod - This resource will be used to complete an online poll about nature. Students will be visiting and using this educational tool. A student account is not needed.
* Thinglink - This tool uses images and videos, along with tags, to create interactive maps. The Virtual Hike's interactive map, that this class uses, was created using Thinglink. Students will be visiting and using this educational tool where they will use the map's features and contents to complete their hike. A student account is not needed.
* Google Forms - This tool is part of the Web-based Google Docs Editor Suite. It it used to create online forms, surveys, and quizzes. Students will be visiting and using this educational resource to answer nature challenge questions as part of their virtual hike experience.  A student account is not required.
