Looking to learn something spontaneous, unique, and also a beautiful form of art? Then calligraphy is for you! This course has been created for those who took the beginner's class, or who have basic calligraphy skills, and would like to gain some extra practice. We will discuss and practice flourishes, coloring, and even modifying our letters to make them stand out. This is a hands-on class, with several visuals including videos and teacher-led practice. Taking some time at home between...
Calligraphy is a beautiful artform. For over 25 years, I have not only practiced the art of calligraphy for fun, I've also had the privilege of being commissioned for several projects.
Although not required, it is highly recommended that learners practice their hand-writing techniques several times between classes, in order to achieve a higher-level of quality and muscle memory.
1 file available upon enrollmentI have attached a form for practicing what we learn in class. However, you may purchase calligraphy practice pads, heavyweight paper, or bleed-proof marker paper if you prefer (recommended). Students will also need either 3mm or 3.5mm calligraphy markers or pens with flat nibs. Sets with multiple sizes are great, especially for future calligraphy classes. I recommend Zig markers or Kuretake Zig markers (for colored-marker options) for beginners. I will be using a Kuretake Zig marker set found on the link below. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00777SH7C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 If you prefer pens, I suggest trying one out and ensuring consistent ink flow when writing a sentence. I have found the basic pen set in the link below to be a pretty good beginner's set, with excellent ink flow, and will also be utilizing it in class. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B086GNP2M5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There are many other options on Amazon for pens, markers, and practice pads, but most craft stores have a good selection as well.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.

Outschool is awesome! It combines two of my favorite things--teaching and learning. Over the past 20+ years I've had the opportunity to teach many of the things I love: math, writing, calligraphy, science, art, and almost anything to do with...
