In this one time class, students will take a tour of our solar system. They will learn about the Sun, each of the planets and dwarf planets.
Class experience
US Grade 3 - 4
Students will learn about our solar system, including how the planets may be similar or different from each other. We will begin our tour of the solar system starting with the sun and ending out past Neptune. I love student interactions and will encourage students to participate along our journey to see what they know while keeping the class lecture based. Maybe they will teach me something! I will use Celestia software to take the students on a tour of the solar system. If time...
Students will be able to list all the planets and dwarf planets in our solar system. They will also be able to discuss the planets and how they are different or similar (gaseous or rocky, etc). Students will be able to discuss the differences between planets and dwarf planets. Students will also be able to talk about our Sun and why it is important. If we have time, students will be able to identify why Earth is special and can support life while Mars does not.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
