Class Experience
Students will learn about our solar system, and how the planets may be similar or different from each other. We will take a tour of our solar system starting with the sun and ending out past Neptune. It will be lectured based, but I love student interactions and will ask students to participate along our journey to see what they know. Maybe they will teach me something! I will use Celestia software to take the students on a tour of the solar system. If we have time, we will use...
Students will be able to list all the planets and dwarf planets in our solar system. They will also be able to discuss the planets and how they are different or similar (gaseous or rocky, etc). Students will be able to discuss the differences between planets and dwarf planets. Students will also be able to talk about our Sun and why it is important. We will also discuss the composition of the planets. If we have time, students will be able to identify why Earth is special and can support life while Mars does not.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
