Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
In this one-time class, students will learn all about the periodic table. We'll talk about the structure of the table, the groups on the table, and a little bit of the history of its development.

I keep my classes small so students can ask questions and participate in the way they want. They are free to ask questions and participate or to just listen quietly. I use a PowerPoint presentation to present the information in class. Kahoot and Quizzes are good programs to use when we have time to review material at the end of class.

This is the 3rd class in a series of classes meant to introduce young students to some of chemistry's basic ideas.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to discuss the reasons for the periodic table's structure and name several groups that can be found on the table.

Hello!

UPDATE: I am taking a break from Outschool. After the spring semester of 2024 ends, I will take a hiatus.

I offer a variety of science and math classes. I have close to ten years of teaching experience. I've worked with students of all ages including young adults. I experience teaching in the classroom and teaching virtually. I have a B.A. from Louisiana State University.

I've helped tutoring student reach their goals whether it's to pass a standardized test or get a passing grade in a course.

I think that a basic understanding of science enhances one's life. It opens up a world hidden to most people. Studying science and math helps children to develop critical thinking skills that can be applied to all areas of life. My goal in all my classes is to inspire the students to study science. I want them to always ask questions and to stay curious.

Please reach out to me if you don't see a time that works for your child. I will try to be accommodating if it is possible.

When I am not teaching or prepping for classes, I enjoy crafting, reading, working out, and spending time with my dog.

"If you are scientifically literate the world looks very different to you. And that understanding empowers you." -Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson
