In this one-time course students will learn about our moon. They will learn about the phases of the moon, how it was formed (to the best of our knowledge), and the history of the moon missions.
Class experience
US Grade 2 - 4
Students will learn all about our natural satellite, the moon, including its’ phases and the answers to the following questions. When did the moon form and how old is it? How far away is the moon right now? Why does the moon cause tides? Time permitting, we will also discuss the lunar landing. Students will view notes and pictures on PowerPoints that complement the discussion. I invite the students to be active participants in the discussion. Students will be able to name all the phases of the moon. They will be able to discuss how we think the moon formed. Students will also learn how the moon is involved with the tides. Students will be able to name all 3 astronauts who landed on the moon.
2 files available upon enrollmentI will be using Oreo cookies to show the phases of the moon. Students can feel free to watch or participate by making their own model with Oreo(or another similar cookie). They can also just use a marker and maker to make a model.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
