Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
This lesson will change depending on the current season. The constellations we will look at or discuss will change depending on the season.

In this lesson, students will learn about objects they can see in the night time sky without a telescope.

I will spend about half the lesson presenting material, and then the next half reviewing with the students. I will like to check their understanding during class by asking questions or playing games. I prefer not to assign homework. Please contact me if you want me to assign homework for your student.

I will use pictures, and a software program called Stellarium. I am a pretty laid back teacher. I love having an interactive classroom. Students are free to ask questions and share comments. I love hearing what my students know and sometimes they teach me!

Learning Goals

Students will be able to identify different constellations that are visible and other objects like planets that are also visible.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!

UPDATE: I am taking a break from Outschool. After the spring semester of 2024 ends, I will take a hiatus.

I offer a variety of science and math classes. I have close to ten years of teaching experience. I've worked with students of all ages including young adults. I experience teaching in the classroom and teaching virtually. I have a B.A. from Louisiana State University.

I've helped tutoring student reach their goals whether it's to pass a standardized test or get a passing grade in a course.

I think that a basic understanding of science enhances one's life. It opens up a world hidden to most people. Studying science and math helps children to develop critical thinking skills that can be applied to all areas of life. My goal in all my classes is to inspire the students to study science. I want them to always ask questions and to stay curious.

Please reach out to me if you don't see a time that works for your child. I will try to be accommodating if it is possible.

When I am not teaching or prepping for classes, I enjoy crafting, reading, working out, and spending time with my dog.

"If you are scientifically literate the world looks very different to you. And that understanding empowers you." -Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson

**All classes are taught with an evolutionary perspective and according to Outschool's policies.**
