Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 7
Space is a vast area with many different objects other than the planets within our solar system. In this lecture-based course students will learn about these other elements including black holes, comets, stars and asteroids.

Students should have an interest in some or all of these objects. Students are invited to join in on the discussion. They are free to ask questions or share comments as long as they adhere to my rule of exhibiting politeness to the class.

Through open discussions, I can gauge how they are doing with each topic while hearing what prior knowledge they bring to the class.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to identify different space objects. They will be able to discuss what a black hole is or a comet. They will be able to name a few different stars and the types of stars in space.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!

UPDATE: I am taking a break from Outschool. After the spring semester of 2024 ends, I will take a hiatus.

I offer a variety of science and math classes. I have close to ten years of teaching experience. I've worked with students of all ages including young adults. I experience teaching in the classroom and teaching virtually. I have a B.A. from Louisiana State University.

I've helped tutoring student reach their goals whether it's to pass a standardized test or get a passing grade in a course.

I think that a basic understanding of science enhances one's life. It opens up a world hidden to most people. Studying science and math helps children to develop critical thinking skills that can be applied to all areas of life. My goal in all my classes is to inspire the students to study science. I want them to always ask questions and to stay curious.

Please reach out to me if you don't see a time that works for your child. I will try to be accommodating if it is possible.

When I am not teaching or prepping for classes, I enjoy crafting, reading, working out, and spending time with my dog.

"If you are scientifically literate the world looks very different to you. And that understanding empowers you." -Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson

**All classes are taught with an evolutionary perspective and according to Outschool's policies.**
