Welcome to the History of California! Learners will explore California's geography, history, government, and economy. Students will learn about the rich and diverse history of the state, beginning with the Indigenous peoples that inhabited the land long before European settlers arrived. Learners will explore the colonization of California by the Spanish and the establishment of missions along the coast. I have over twenty years of experience working with and teaching students. I have a bachelor's degree in both History and Economics. My master's degree is in Higher Education. I also have a juris doctorate degree in Law. Most importantly, I have a passion for teaching, history in particular!
Sensitive subjects such as the treatment of Indigenous peoples, immigrants, and African Americans will be discussed in this class. Also, while discussing wars, the number of deaths will be discussed. All discussions will be kept at an age-appropriate level. Nearpod, Kahoot, and Gimkit will be used as outside resources during class. A link will be provided and accounts are not needed for these resources.
