Class Experience

This class is by request only. If you are interested, send me a message and we can work together to schedule a time and day that works for you!

This is a personalized, one on one class for an individualized learning experience. Any and all skill levels welcome. We will work at the student's level and pace. We can start by learning the basics of using a digital camera, setting up the perfect composition of a photograph. We can challenge what the student already knows and go beyond with taking our camera out of auto mode and learning the manual settings. Explore topics such as portraiture, still life or food photography, toy or pet photography. Whatever the student is interested in, we can do it. I am here to scaffold student learning by teaching new skills and giving constructive feedback for shared photos. Each week, the student will be given a new assignment/challenge based on the topic discussed that week. Photos will be uploaded to the classroom prior to the start of the next class. The student will also be given photos to discuss technique, style, composition, focus.

Because this is an on-going, student-led class, photography topics are flexible and open ended. However, all discussions will remain about photography as a general topic.

One student per class session for a personal, individual, private session. If you are interested in a different time slot, please let me know.

I've been a teacher in a traditional classroom since 2002. During that time, I have experience with pre-K through 8th grade. To further my interest in photography, I completed the New York Institute of Photography courses and received my certificate of completion in 2006. I've also completed several online training to strengthen my skills. I have photographed weddings, real estate, and portraits professionally but I absolutely love photographing nature and macro shots!
