US Grade Preschool - 1
Come explore the life cycle of a butterfly with hands-on activities and LIVE caterpillars and butterflies! In this class, students will learn the name of each stage of the butterfly life cycle while observing what it looks like. I will have live caterpillars for the students to observe up-close! Then we will watch as each one begins to form into a chrysalis and then finally becomes a beautiful butterfly! Once students have seen the butterflies, they will be released into the wild! Students will learn the name of each stage of the life cycle: egg, caterpillar, chrysalis, butterfly. We will use crafts (see supply list below) and a song to help us learn the name of each stage of the life cycle. Students will also learn some fun facts about what is happening during the stages of the life cycle as well. Finally, we will make a snack (see supplies below) to show the 4 stages of the life cycle. There will be time for students to share their observations and socialize during our class time as well. I hope you will join me for this fun, hands-on butterfly adventure! Class 1-Discussion of butterfly eggs and life cycle as a whole-April 25 Class 2-Discussion/observation of caterpillar stage-May 2 Class 3-Discussion/observation of chrysalis stage-May 9 Class 4-Discussion/observation of butterfly stage and snack of life cycle-May 16 *I will do my best at planning this class so students can observe the stages of the life cycle. In the event that the students miss a live step of the cycle (ex: such as the caterpillar forming the chrysalis), I will have a live video recording that is shown to the students during our time together. * *There will need to be at least 3 learners in this class for it to run. If enrollment does not meet 3, I will be in contact with parents in advance. * *Please help monitor background noise during this class, as students are encouraged to stay un-muted so we can have lots of discussion time!**
