🗠In this engaging business simulation, learners will step into the role of a salon owner, gaining hands-on experience in setting up and managing their own hair salon. They will explore essential business tasks such as creating a budget, making strategic decisions, developing marketing materials, and managing monthly finances. 🪮While the simulation centers on a salon, the skills and knowledge acquired will be applicable to running any business. Learners will calculate monthly revenue and expenses, which will vary based on their choices, such as the number of employees hired and the size of the rented space. ✉️Learners will engage in real-world activities like writing emails, crafting advertisements, and more, providing a comprehensive insight into managing a retail business. 🎞️To assist with each stage, videos will be available, and I will be on hand to provide support if learners encounter any difficulties or have questions. 🗎Learners will be provided with printable documents that will help them in each lesson. Learners may choose to use Canva or Google slides, or all work can be done with paper and pen. The tasks are open-ended and can be completed in a variety of ways. For example, when asked to create a mood board, they could create this using magazines and glue, or digitally on Canva, Google Slides, Powerpoint or Pinterest. ❔I ran my own hair salon for 8 years (but I am not a hairdresser!) so as a qualified teacher I am the right person to teach this class! This class is focused on the business aspects of running a salon. ❗It does NOT cover hairdressing techniques or how to cut or style hair.❗ This interactive unit is perfect for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to explore the world of business ownership in a fun and creative way.

Learners will acquire foundational skills in budgeting, financial planning, and operational management by calculating monthly revenues and expenses, understanding the financial impact of business decisions.

Greetings! I'm Ms. Riot, a creative teacher (certified, qualified and experienced) from London, England. My teaching adventure began at university after completing my 4-year degree (Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Primary Education) in 2007.
As an elementary classroom teacher, I developed creative classrooms where students felt safe enough to fail. My passion for reading also allowed me to develop a new career as a high school librarian, teaching reading lessons across the school. I have also taught students English up to the age of 16 at a prestigious online school.
More recently, I have worked within the learning department in a large museum, teaching at various online schools and designing curriculum for education resource companies. I also deliver lectures to trainee teachers.
Alongside my teaching career, I have been an entrepreneur. I opened a hair salon which I ran for 7 years. I also ran an entrepreneur support group and worked full-time for a year at a digital marketing agency.
